Neo-Platonism (also Neoplatonism)

• 1. N a philosophical system which was first developed in the 3rd century ad as a synthesis of Platonic, Pythagorean, and Aristotelian elements, and which, although originally opposed to Christianity, later incorporated it. It dominated European thought until the 13th century and re-emerged during the Renaissance 新柏拉图派哲学; 最先于公元三世纪发展壮大的哲学系统，是柏拉图的、毕达哥拉斯的、亚里斯多德的元素的整合体，尽管最初与基督教教义相悖，后来又对其有所吸收，其哲学思想在13世纪的欧洲占主导地位，在文艺复兴时期又重新出现
