常用用法

這組詞都有使某人或某物從一個地方到另一個地方的意思。其區別是：
1.carry表示“帶、運、拿、搬”,沒有明確的方曏性,著重指用某一“方式”帶或運；convey指以某種方式或由某一“途逕”將人或物運送至某地；transport指把貨物或人從一地運到另一地,含有“運送到目的地”的意思；transfer指把人或物從一処“轉送”到另一処；而transmit的意思是“傳播”“傳送”。例如:
The seeds of dandelion were carried to the meadow by the wind.風把蒲公英的種子吹到草地上。
The truck conveyed the furniture.這輛貨車運送家具。
Those passengers were transported by a Boeing 747.那批旅客是用波音747飛機運送的。
Please have my luggage transferred to the railway station.請把我的行李轉到火車站去。
The station transmits from 6 a.m. until midnight.電台從早晨6點開始播音,一直持續到半夜。
2.carry可引申表示爲“傳染”；convey可借喻表示“表達”或“傳達”；transfer則可引申表示“調動”。例如:
Many serious diseases are carried by insects.許多嚴重疾病都是由崑蟲傳染的。
I can't convey my feelings in words.我無法用言語來表達我的情感。
We transport logs by train.我們用火車運送圓木。

這三個詞均可表示“送出”。其區別在於:send指通過命令、指導、武力、設備或內在能力把某人或某物送到另一個地方; route指按事先定好的路線投送某物,暗示一個接一個地投送; 而transmit表示將某物從一処傳送到另一処,強調傳送的方式,常指電波信號或信息的傳送。例如:
The packer was told to send off the two crates at once. 打包工被通知說這兩個板條箱要立刻送出。
He heard the call transmitted through Montreal.他接聽從矇特利爾轉來的電話。
The power which an engine develops is routed to the wheels.引擎産生的動力傳遞到車輪。
